Big Birthday

I traveled to Little Rock over the holidays. My Mother was 90 on Christmas Eve. All of the family was there for the celebration. When Mother was a child you only got one doll. Mother's was all apart, but my Grandmother had kept all of the pieces. I had her redone (she had to be re-strung, re-wigged, cleaned up and new clothes made) and gave her to Mother for her Birthday. Her name is Jackie and Mother got her when she was 5. Here is a picture of Mother and Jackie. For a 90 year old and a 85 year old they look very good.

Flowers

Cold weather and the first frost of the year have already arrived. So far the flowers have survived. I planted dahlias for the first time this year. The pictures are of the last two blooms, I also have mums. They brightens up any fall.

More Fall Color in the Ozarks

All of these pictures were taken in and around my neighborhood in Bella Vista, AR. The color this year is outstanding and is at a peak this week.

The English Tea Room

Several of us traveled to Siloam Springs yesterday to eat at The English Tea Room. The owners are an English couple who visited Siloam Springs, loved it, and decided to relocate. They opened the English Tea Room several months ago. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food very good. If you are in the area stop by. They are open 7 days a week. The English Tea Room is located at 210 W. University St. in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. The waitress took the picture of the six of us.

Craft Fair Weekend

Spanker Creek Arts and Craft Fair

Spanker Creek started three years ago making it the one of the newest in the area. This is the only Craft Fair where I carried a camera. You can see the setting with the beginning of Fall colors, some of the booths, the inside of the tents, three sister from Indiana wearing identical shirts (they come every year), the mountain band playing old tunes and the chain saw artist starting a new sculpture.

Fall in the Ozarks

One of the first signs of Fall showed up in my fountain last week. On good years we have the full range of colors here; red, orange, russet, and yellow. This promises to be a very good year for color.

Bees at the Denver Botanical Gardens

The bees were very busy the day I visited the Denver Botanical Gardens. I have found it difficult to get good photos of the bees on flowers. Here are some of the few I got. See if you can find the bees. Double click on the photos to get a full screen view.

Mushrooms at Land Between the Lakes

I love to find small things in nature to photograph. On a nature trail near the campground at Land Between the Lakes I found a wealth of mushrooms. Here are some of the pictures.

Rocky Mountain National Park

I am still in Denver visiting my son. I heard on the news last night that the aspens were changing color up in the high country so I decided to view the change in Rocky Mountain National Park. I found more than the color changing. The elk were out as mating season is about to begin and the ground squirrels are still getting fed along the pull-offs. There is a bore infestation in the pine forest and many of the evergreen trees are dead. You can see all of the dead trees in one of the pictures. It looks like there will be none left alive in a few years.

I am visiting my son in Denver and went to the Denver Botanical Garden today. If you are in the area it is worth a visit. Here are some photos from my visit.
